GDC302 Virtual and augmented reality technologies

The unit will aspire students for the development innovative interfaces to create breakthroughs and advancements in visualisation and interaction technologies. Therefore, the unit reviews pioneering developments in visualisation and interaction technologies, and investigates innovative concepts and implementations. The unit also explores the design principles and content creation process for Virtual reality (VR) and Augmented reality (AR) applications for the implementation of the novel concepts. Students will be expected to apply the theoretical knowledge of VR and AR systems by using VR and AR tools and platforms to deploy games. At the completion of this unit, students should be able to describe the principles of designing and deploying specific VR and AR applications, analyse the range of options and controls available through VR and AR software applications, explain VR and AR User Interactions, Hardware and software capabilities including sensors, and create, develop and demonstrate applications of VR environments and AR technologies.
